New York Public Interest Research Group, Inc. (NYPIRG)

NYPIRG is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, statewide research and advocacy organization, established and directed by New York state college and university students.  NYPIRG has grown to be the largest statewide citizen activist organization in the country.  At Binghamton University, students work with NYPIRG on projects that relate to consumer protection, energy, education, environmental preservation, government and corporate accountability, and economic and social justice.

SEAC - Student Environmental Awareness Club

The Student Environmental Awareness Club (SEAC) is one of the main environmental groups on campus and solely dedicated to environmental issues. We sponsor many small events all over campus and host the large Earth Day event every April. We are also involved with environmental education off campus, at the local Discovery Center of the Southern Tier and elementary schools. We also host any speakers or movies (such as An Inconvenient Truth) showings that are applicable to environmental issues.

Campus Climate Challenge

The Campus Climate Challenge at BU is part of a project set up by more than 30 leading youth organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.  The Challenge is growing a generation-wide movement to stop global warming, by reducing the pollution from colleges down to zero, and leading our society to a clean energy future.  At BU we are focusing on helping the campus respond to the President’s Climate Commitment, reducing BU’s carbon footrprint.

  Friends of the Nature Preserve
