Field Work
Students have numerous opportunities to
work in the field. Some courses have field work as part
of the lab or discussion sections. In other courses,
students do field work as part of research projects,
whether they are working on an environmental impact
statement, an environmental plan, or independent
research. In addition, there are opportunities for field
work in other countries through such courses as Tropical
Ecology and Marine Ecology, in cooperation with the
Biology Department.
Summer Field Program in Costa
Rica
In cooperation with the
Tropical Forestry Initiative, the University currently has a
study abroad program in Costa Rica. The program runs during
the month of July and involves living, working and learning
on a reforestation project site near Dominical in
southwestern Costa Rica. Students earn 6 credits for this
program.
